Transformation potential for the conservation of biodiversity

The Faktencheck Artenvielfalt is a project for the systematic assessment and evaluation of biodiversity in Germany, which was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the research initiative for the conservation of biodiversity. Around 140 scientists and practitioners from universities, non-university research institutions, public administration organisations, stakeholders and associations took part in the Faktencheck.

CoKnow was involved and coordinated the chapter "Transformation potentials for the conservation of biodiversity". In the context of sustainability debates, the need for transformation has been increasingly emphasized in recent years. However, it often remains unclear what exactly is to be transformed and with what objective, what instruments could be used to support such a transformation process, what knowledge would be required for this and also what the winners and losers would be. In this chapter, we provide possible answers to these questions and focus on ways to restore, preserve and increase biodiversity.
