Results

The current report on land degradation and recovery clearly demonstrates that the decline of biodiversity (the diversity of ecosystems and species as well as genetic diversity within species) on earth will cause massive problems in the future and, above all, will have alarming effects on human well-being.

The report includes four regional reports on biodiversity in Asia Pacific, Americas, Africa and Europe / Central Asia and a report on global soil quality. The main focus is on the general significance of biodiversity, on global threats, but also on positive developments and recommendations for political actors and institutions.

According to more than 550 experts from around 100 countries, the decline in biological diversity also has economic, social and security consequences.
